Photographing Birds in Greece
The photographs of this album are the result of the photographer’s many years of wanderings in all the wetlands of Greece, like Kerkini, Nestos, Evros, Prespes, Amvrakikos and Kalloni in Lesvos island.
The theme of all this photographs is the same: the birds the moment they are flying or wooing with each other, the moment they are floating on the waters of a lake or are ready to fly; a movement that symbolizes freedom.
All photos introduce us in a rare, almost unknown side of the Greek nature and its beauty. They stimulate the senses, make us more aware of the dangers that threaten the environment and finally make us realize the need of protecting nature.
Apart from 268 photos, the album includes an essay on the moral and aesthetic issues that concern the relation between the man and the birds, written by the photographer. At the end of the photographic album there are two indexes as well: the first index includes, in the Greek, English and Latin languages, the names of the birds that appear in the photos and the other index refers to the names of the places and wetlands where the photos were captured.
